Summer Safety Kit
What if the sun could send us a safety kit this summer? It would include simple tips on how to stay safe while playing outdoors in the sun. The sun’s rays are both helpful and harmful. A sunny day boosts our mood and give us vitamin D. Too much sun exposure, however, can cause a sunburn, migraine, light sensitivity or heatstroke or increase our risk of developing cancer.
Here are some of the helpful items, tips and books you would find in the sun’s safety kit.
Must-Have Items
- Waterproof sunscreen for water fun and outdoor sports
- Daily facial moisturizer with sunscreen to prevent sunspots and wrinkles
- Hat and polarized sunglasses for outdoor play
- Refillable water bottle with a label that reads “stay hydrated”
Summer Sun Safety Tips
- Wear cooler clothing in light, safari or pastel colors. Clothing made of 100% cotton fabric absorbs sweat and helps keep the body cool.
- Stay hydrated with low- or no-sugar liquids and food like strawberries, watermelon, cucumbers and sweet peppers.
- Get your skin checked by a dermatologist.
- Remember your safety kit when out in the sun having family fun!
