RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, 9/19/2024 — PBS North Carolina announces season 22 of its beloved original series NC Weekend. Every week, host Deborah Holt Noel takes viewers to destinations across North Carolina to discover all the best things to see and do, from relaxing getaways, outdoor adventures and family-friendly festivals to restaurants, breweries and historic landmarks. The new season of NC Weekend premieres Thursday, October 3, at 9 PM, on PBS NC, online and on the free PBS app. Stories from NC Weekend are also available on YouTube

The new season of NC Weekend kicks off with a visit to Edenton, a town on the Albemarle Sound with a rich history and a thriving art and food scene. Deborah Holt Noel visits several inns and restaurants as well as explores various sites, including stops about abolitionist Harriet Jacobs, via a trolley ride and an electric boat tour. Plus, Bob Garner samples wood-smoked barbecue at the Old Colony Smokehouse.

“On NC Weekend, we’re always on the hunt for experiences that are unique to our state,” says David Hardy, the series’ executive producer. “Our viewers love to discover locations that are one of a kind and have lots of offerings for all ages. Edenton’s a great example: it’s a beautiful coastal town that both preserves its storied past and supports fantastic new ventures. It truly has something for everyone.”

Other destinations this season include The Harvey, a 1790s building in New Bern that has been lovingly restored and transformed into a boutique hotel; an underground visit to Linville Caverns in McDowell County; a dip along the Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail in western North Carolina; and a craft beer crawl in Winston-Salem.

“December will be here before you know it so I’m really excited about NC Weekend’s holiday episode airing on December 19,” says host Deborah Holt Noel. “We’ll head to King, North Carolina, and visit Mitchell’s Nursery and Greenhouse, which is home to over 100 varieties of poinsettias. The festive colors will surely get everyone in the holiday spirit.”
