New Dramas from PBS in April 2024

Phyllis Logan as Maggie in Guilt, Toby Jones as Alan Bates in Mr. Bates vs The Post Office and Stephen Peacocke in Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Murderous Brothers & British Scandals

I’m all for a bit of British tea—the breakfast drink and the drama. With a new show from Masterpiece about the British Post Office scandal, Mr Bates vs The Post Office, I think we’re in for something piping hot. This show’s impact in the U.K. led to a form of reparations for the wrongly accused postmasters, and that alone makes me want to unpack this powerful story.

On another side of the British Isles, Guilt’s third and final season takes us to Scotland. In this popular drama series, brothers Jake and Max are dealing with an accidental murder and their attempt to outrun the consequences. This season takes them into the dark corners of Edinburgh, where they face some life-defining choices for a final thrill of a season.

Guilt Season 3

The award-winning TV series Guilt is a darkly funny Scottish thriller, which centers on unscrupulous lawyer Max McCall (Mark Bonnar, World on Fire, Unforgotten, Shetland, Catastrophe) and the shenanigans he gets into in and around Edinburgh. Max can’t manage to stay out of trouble for very long.

The brothers are back together but enemies old, and new, cause them to seek ever more desperate solutions to their problems.
