The Role of the Press and the 1898 Wilmington Coup | Interactive Lesson

In this interactive lesson, students will explore the role of the media in the 1898 Wilmington Coup, the only successful coup in U.S. history. Democratic White supremacists orchestrated a strategic campaign to reclaim political control of state and local governments, using White-owned newspapers to spread misinformation and incite racial violence.
